Plastic Bags

A plastic bag, is a type of container made of thin, flexible, plastic film, non woven fabric, or plastic textile. Plastic bags are used for containing and transporting goods such as foods, produce, powders, ice, magazines, chemicals, and waste. It is a common form of packaging.
Most plastic bags are heat sealed at the seams, while some are bonded with adhesives or are stitched.
Bags can be made with a variety of plastics films. Polyethylene (LDPE, LLDPE, etc.) is the most common. Other forms, including laminates and co-extrusions can be used when the physical properties are needed. Plastics to create single use bags are primarily made with Fossil fuels.

AT IRN Company we provide Bags with carrying handles, hanging holes, tape attachments, or security features. Some bags have provisions for easy and controlled opening. Reclosable features, including press-to-seal zipper strips, are common for kitchen bags bought empty and for some foods. Some bags are sealed for tamper-evident capability, including some where the press-to-reseal feature becomes accessible only when a perforated outer seal has torn away.

Boil-in-bags are often used for sealed frozen foods, sometimes complete entrees. The bags are usually tough heat-sealed nylon or polyester to withstand the temperatures of boiling water. Some bags are porous or perforated to allow the hot water to contact the food: rice, noodles, etc. Grocery stores are the single largest supplier of single-use plastic bags.

A garbage bag, rubbish bag (British English), bin bag, bin liner, trash bag (American English) or refuse sack is a disposable bag used to contain solid waste. Such bags are useful to line the insides of waste containers to prevent the insides of the receptacle from becoming coated in waste material. Today, most bags are made out of plastic, and are typically white, black, or green in color.

Plastic bags are a widely used, convenient, and sanitary way of handling garbage. Plastic garbage bags are fairly lightweight and are particularly useful for wet or messy rubbish, as is commonly the case with food waste, and are also useful for wrapping up garbage to minimize odor. Plastic bags are often used for lining litter or waste containers or bins. This keeps the container sanitary by avoiding container contact with the garbage. After the bag in the container is filled with litter, the bag can be pulled out by its edges, closed, and tied with minimal contact with the waste matter.

Plastic bags for litter or rubbish are sold in a number of sizes at many stores in packets or rolls of a few tens of bags. Wire twist ties are sometimes supplied for closing the bag once full. Varying thicknesses are commonly manufactured - thicker bags are used for heavy-duty applications such as construction waste, or in order to be able to withstand being compacted during recycling processes. In the mid-1990s bin bags with drawstrings for closure were introduced. Some bags have handles that may be tied or holes through which the neck of the bag can be pulled. Most commonly, the plastic used to make bin bags is the rather flexible and soft LDPE (low-density polyethylene) or, for strength, LLDPE (linear low-density polyethylene) or HDPE (high-density polyethylene) are sometimes used.
Oxo-biodegradable plastic bags have the same strength as ordinary plastic and cost very tiny extra. They will degrade then biodegrade if they get into the open environment, but they can be recycled if collected during their useful life. They are designed so that they will not degrade deep in landfills and will not, therefore, generate methane. Oxo-biodegradable plastic does not degrade quickly in low temperature "windrow" composting, but it is suitable for "in-vessel" composting at the higher temperatures required by the animal by-products regulations. Oxo-biodegradable plastic is bio-assimilated by the same bacteria and fungi, which transform natural material such as twigs and leaves to cell biomass, like lignocellulosic materials. Oxo-biodegradable plastic is designed to degrade initially by a process that includes both photo-oxidation and thermo-oxidation, so it can degrade in the dark. Resin identification code 7 is applicable to biodegradable plastics.

People tend to use garbage bins to dispose off these plastic covers or bags from their home making the environment safe from the enormous chemicals and other poison substances that can be caused from the dumping of these bags. The main cause of environment pollution is the carelessness of the people that later on affect the environment drastically and making it unsafe for the living habitat. Usage of garbage bins to remove these types of bags and plastics can help restore balance to the environment

An anti-static bag is a bag used for storing electronic components, which can cause damage by electrostatic discharge (ESD).

Anit-static bags are usually plastic polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and have a distinctive color (silvery for metallised film, black or pink for polyethylene). The polyethylene variant may also take the form of foam or bubble wrap, either as sheets or bags. Multiple layers of protection are often used to protect from both mechanical damage and electrostatic damage. A protected device can be packaged inside a metalized PET film bag, inside a pink polyethylene bubble-wrap bag, which is finally packed inside a rigid black polyethylene box lined with pink poly foam. It is important that the bags only be opened at static-free workstations. IRN Company can provide its customers anti-static bags in different forms, shapes and sizes.

Dissipative anti-static bags, as the name suggests, are made of standard polyethylene with a static dissipative coating or layer on the plastic. This prevents buildup of a static charge on the surface of the bag, as it dissipates the charge to ground (i.e., whatever other surface it is touching). This bridge to ground is achieved with the inclusion of a tallow amine on the bags surface which attracts moisture that can conduct the charge to another surface, or to the atmosphere itself. In this sense, this type is truly 'anti-static' in that it hinders the formation of static charges. It, however, is not resistant to electrostatic discharge; if something else with a charge touches the bag (such as a person's hand), its charge would easily transfer through the bag and its contents. These bags are usually pink or red in color because of the dissipative chemical layer. Black bags also exist, wherein the polyethylene is manufactured containing trace amounts of carbon, forming a partial shield, though not a complete one.

Conductive anti-static bags are manufactured with a layer of conductive metal, often aluminum, and a dielectric layer of plastic covered in a static dissipative coating. This forms both a shield and a non-conductive barrier, shielding the contents from static charge via the Faraday cage effect. These bags are preferred for more sensitive parts, but they also see use in environments where sparks would be hazardous, such as oxygen-rich areas in aircraft and hospitals. Metalized bags are more fragile than their nonmetal counterparts, however, as any puncture compromises the integrity of the shield. In addition, they have a limited shelf life, as the metal substrate can deteriorate over time. These bags are often silver or gray owing to the metal layer, while still being transparent to some degree.

There are certain waste materials that possess the capacity to harm humans and the environment dangerously. Therefore, the need to contain them becomes a priority for everyone. Such harmful materials are termed as bio-hazardous wastes that are usually found in clinical laboratories, research facilities, pharmaceutical industries, and health care facilities. The containers used to seal off bio-hazardous wastes are known as bio-hazard bags.

What are Bio-hazard Bags?

The name itself is a self-explanatory term that accentuates upon the word bio-hazard. The necessity to collect, seal, and dispose the toxic waste has been elucidated by all the scientists, health practitioners, and environmentalists. Therefore, such contaminants are collected in special type of bags called as bio-hazard bags that are made up of high density polyethylene, polypropylene, plastic, and polyethylene.

These bags are popular with all the healthcare departments. The demand for the bio-hazard bags to caste off waste from the coronavirus infected patients has enhanced drastically in the past seven months. According to a report published by Research Dive, the global bio-hazard bags market will cross the $469.1 million mark by 2027, owing to the increase in its usage in all the medical facilities.

Commonly used Bio-hazard Bags:

IRN Company can provide its customers with their desired bag, based on their needs. There are different categories of bags used for containing various types of biohazard materials. Below please find the different type of bio-hazard bags that IRN Company provides.

Red Bio-hazard Bags:

These types of bags are commonly used to segregate noxious materials from the uncontaminated ones. The red bio-hazard bags are used to collect pathological wastes and only those objects that have blood on it. Commonly included contaminants are anatomical wastes and body fluids like semen, tissues, saliva, animal carcasses, and organs. Apart from this, dresses that are soaked in blood, specimen swabs, toxic medical equipment, and infected gloves are also gathered and sealed off in this type of bio-hazard bag.

Avert putting wastes like alcohols, chemicals, solvents, lead, radioactive wastes, wrappers of food, and pharmaceutical effluents in the red bio-hazard bags as they aren’t designed to handle such wastes.

Yellow Bio-hazard Bags:

Such bags are utilized for disposing chemicals, infectious clinical materials, and pharmaceutical medicines. Moreover, dressings, swabs, tissues, aprons, soiled gloves, nappies, and pads are also collected and packed in yellow bio-hazard bags. Some other uncommon objects such as IV (intravenous) lines, fluid bags, syringes, and metallic parts are also a part of bio-hazard waste that go into these bags.

Things such as anatomical wastes, placental remains, pathological trash, domestic litter, and non-infectious rubbish are not included in the yellow bio-hazard bags.

Autoclave Bio-hazard Bags:

These bags comprises of colours like red, yellow, and transparent that helps in distinguishing the type of waste that goes in each one of them.

The autoclave bio-hazard bags consist of special features that are enlisted as follows:

They are burst and tear proof under normal circumstances.

A bio-hazard symbol is printed on all of these bags.

They have qualified the ASTMD 1709-85 165 gram dart test.

Tolerable temperature is 141?C

These are made of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) and LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) plastics.

Dos and Don’ts while Dealing with Bio-hazard Bags:
Like every systems, devices, and technology; the bio-hazard bags too have a strict protocol that is to be followed while handling them. The major rules are as follows:

Label every bag with a bio-hazard symbol.

Always wear apron, gloves, eye protection, and face masks while transferring the contaminated wastes in the bio-hazard bags.

Do not dispose the bio hazardous waste in city or municipal trash cans, such harmful wastes are collected by a licensed medical waste contractor only.

Line the medical waste container with bio-hazard bags.

Carry out autoclave process on site before disposing the contaminants.

Use a tray or a bucket while dealing with liquid bio-hazard wastes as a precautionary measure.

Treat the liquid waste with bleach or autoclave it before disposal; however, deter from such procedures in case of body fluids and chemicals.

For sharp objects use bio-hazard bags that are resistant to puncture and are leakage proof.

Utilize double bags for pathological wastes to prevent leaks.

What Kind of Poisonous Waste Goes in the Bio-hazard Bags?
Any contaminated material that is highly infectious and can harm an individual is compiled and discarded in the bio-hazard bags. Some of the prominent noxious items are as follows:

1- Blood and things covered with blood

2- Tainted personal protective equipment (PPE)

3- Recombination DNA and RNA

4- IV (intravenous) tubing

5- Any sharp objects covered with contaminants

6- Laboratory apparatus, microbial cultures,  and stocked specimens

7- Pathological wastes

8- Waste produced from person infected with communicable diseases

9- Discarded vaccines

10- Animal waste
